Surroundings
The Bear Inn Resort is located in the attractive village of Clifton. Good walking country. The village itself is small but pleasant to explore on foot, wandering through its old streets, viewing the stone architecture, and visiting the church. The inn is placed at the heart and hub of the village; therefore, it forms an ideal starting point. A major walkable destination is the viewpoint of Clifton Suspension Bridge which lies in Clifton, Bristol's city district. But this can only be reached by driving a car out of the village's immediate countryside that offers access to walks into beautiful country.
Public footpaths leave the village and head immediately into the picturesque Somerset countryside. Lovely walks can be made through fields and woodland, breathing in the fresh air and tranquillity. This is a major bonus to guests who enjoy hiking or just want a relaxing country stroll without having to drive anywhere. Just a short drive is the historic parkland of Ashton Court Estate near Bristol, with walking trails back towards Bristol through deer parks with fabulous views.
For practical needs and for local flavor there are very limited options in the village within immediate walking distance beyond the inn itself. However, a slightly longer walk or very short drive can take you to other small villages or farm shops in the area. The walkability is primarily focused on enjoying the charming village atmosphere and accessing the beautiful surrounding countryside footpaths, providing a perfect escape for nature lovers while still being incredibly close to the city. The inn’s large beer garden is also a destination in itself for a relaxing afternoon walk from your room.
